CONTACT US TO LEARN MORE ABOUT DAR MEMBERSHIP

Welcome!

Members of Lt. George Farragut Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), Inc. welcome you! Our chapter has been going strong in the Idaho panhandle since 1965. We are a group of diverse women who share a common bond of having an ancestor who contributed to the cause of freedom and independence during the American Revolutionary War. We are passionate about preserving history, educating children, and honoring and supporting the men and women who serve our nation. We love serving our community, too!

Our chapter namesake, Lieutenant George Farragut, was born in Spain in 1755. Farragut arrived in the Carolinas in 1776 during the American Revolutionary War. He served as a lieutenant in the South Carolina Navy where he supervised shipbuilding for the colony and helped in the defense of Savannah. He later commanded volunteer artillery in North Carolina. By the end of the war, Farragut had been promoted to the rank of major. The second of his five children is David Farragut, the famous naval hero of the Civil War.
Mission
Our mission is to promote patriotism, education, and historic preservation; and to serve our country by preserving the memory and spirit of the men and women who fought or gave service in the cause of freedom and independence during the American Revolutionary War.

Meetings
Our chapter meets monthly, from September through May. We also host several Anchor Parties a year for those who cannot attend our regular meetings. For more information, please contact us.
